Assemblywoman Russell: I won’t stand for dishonesty and deception
Assemblywoman Addie Jenne Russell, D-Theresa, criticized her opponent for shady business practices, saying we can’t trust someone like him to clean up Albany.
“North Country families deserve to have faith in our state government,” Assemblywoman Russell said. “John Byrne can insist he’ll push for more transparency, but he cheated customers at his business. What does that say about his honesty and integrity?”
Mr. Byrne was repeatedly fined by the state Liquor Authority for violations at his business. Among the offenses was pouring cheap well liquor into premium bottles and passing it off to customers as top-shelf liquor.
“My opponent expects us to believe he’s the person to clean up Albany. He scammed customers at his bar. Now he thinks that he can scam us too. Don’t buy his cheap swill,” Assemblywoman Russell said.
“The North Country is full of honest folks who work hard every single day to make an honest living. John Byrne took advantage of people who trusted him. Now he’s telling us to send him to Albany to straighten things out. Change Albany? I don't think so. He’ll fit right in," she added.
