PEF endorses Assemblywoman Russell, a fighter to keep their jobs in the North Country

The New York State Public Employees Federation has endorsed Addie Jenne Russell for the 116th Assembly District.

"Addie's advocacy for all working people is an admirable quality embraced by PEF," PEF Region 7 Coordinator Ed Snow said.

He said Assemblywoman Russell worked closely with PEF members to fight for the continued operation of the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center and its North Country community-based services for adults and children with mental health needs when the state announced plans to close the facility. The fight was successful.

He said Assemblywoman Russell was also instrumental in the campaign to keep the Ogdensburg Correctional Facility operational when that facility was slated for closure.

"Addie's tireless efforts are recognized by the state's Public Employees Federation representing 54,000 professional, scientific and technical employees throughout New York State, including 1,200 members in the North Country.

Assemblywoman Russell said her record shows she fights to bring new jobs to the North Country and PEF employees - like employees at other employers in the region - know she will be standing next to them and fighting for them when their jobs are in peril.

"It's not just talk. It's action. PEF members do great work in the North Country, and they know I fight for every job in the region," Assemblywoman Russell said.

Assemblywoman Russell has been endorsed by a number of groups and organizations during the current election cycle including the North Country Central Trades Council and its parent organization, AFL-CIO; CSEA; New York State United Teachers; the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees and the Police Conference of New York, Inc.
