Assemblywoman Russell gains endorsement from IBEW

Assemblywoman Addie Jenne Russell has gained the endorsement of Local 2032 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the organized labor unit representing employees at the New York Power Authority's upstate facilities.

IBEW Local 2032 officials said Assemblywoman Russell exemplifies the standard of excellence necessary to represent the River District in the New York State Assembly.

"Addie has demonstrated a remarkable work ethic for the district. She is a woman of great strength and fortitude, which are necessary skills in today's political climate," Local 2032 Business Manager William "Bill" Brown said.

"We believe Addie will continue to bring the interests of the North Country to the halls of Albany, a task she has been very successful at in the past," he added.

"Experience and seniority are very valuable attributes to have on her side. We are confident she will continue her effort to stand up for the hard-working people of the district," he noted.

Assemblywoman Russell said the energy industry is critical to the North Country's economy and pointed out the electrical workers are responsible - often in very dangerous conditions for literally keeping the lights on in New York State.

"Fighting for the hard-working men and women of the North Country is my number one job in Albany. The low-cost power generated at the New York Power Authority generated in Massena, thanks in large part to the men and women of Local 2032, remains one of our region's biggest assets as we work to create new jobs in our region. I am pleased Local 2032 recognizes I have the energy and experience to get the job done right," she said.

Assemblywoman Russell has been endorsed by a number of groups and organizations during the current election cycle including the North Country Central Trades Council and its parent organization, AFL-CIO; CSEA; Public Employees Federation; New York State United Teachers; the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees and the Police Conference of New York, Inc.; New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association, Inc.,; United Auto Workers; Laborer's Local 1822; United Steelworkers Local 420-A; and SOAR Chapter 4 - AB 1, an organization representing union retirees from Alcoa in Massena.
