Assemblywoman Russell: North Country residents deserve an honest goverment
Assemblywoman Addie Russell issued the following statement after the federal prosecutor for the Southern District of New York announced the indictment of nine people connected to upstate economic development projects:
“Here in the North Country, we believe in an honest day’s pay for an honest day’s work. I’m as sick of the corruption in Albany as North Country residents are. Today’s allegations show public officials once again abusing their power and influence for their own interests.
"It’s even more disappointing the economic development efforts that are supporting North Country jobs are now being tarnished by corruption.
"It’s got to end. New Yorkers deserve a state government that is marked by integrity, honesty, accountability and transparency. We deserve a government that works for us and works just as hard as we do."
