Assemblywoman Jenne supports Senator Gillibrand's plan to increase access to affordable health care

It was good to stand with Senator Kirsten Gillibrand yesterday and talk about steps we can take to expand access to affordable quality health care for our working class families.
As I have said many times, it can be a life and death issue when hard working folks put off going to a doctor because they fear the bill. It's our working class families that are feeling the pinch the most, the ones that need relief.
The health insurance programs they can afford have both deductibles and high co-pays. Bringing a rational approach to fee schedules for our families is what they need in order for us to unharness even more economic activity in our community. Senator Gillibrand's legislation would dovetail nicely with efforts underway in New York State to expand access to health care and lower costs by providing federal funding support.
"It's important to partner with the federal government and work toward solutions rather than just dismantling our health care system. It would also allow smart expansions for programs we know work and are cost efficient. It's part of how we can afford a better health care system.
Health care really should be a right at this point, not a privilege.
