Assemblywoman Jenne secures $5,000 to assist county chamber promote fishing events

Assemblywoman Addie A.E. Jenne announced she has secured a $5,000 grant for the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce's marketing efforts.

The funding is aimed at helping the county chamber purchase and distribute marketing and promotional materials and programming.

“The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Chamber is focused on assisting the local business community and in bringing more tourists to the region. I've been impressed with the rebranding efforts underway to enhance the county’s marketing efforts, the renewed focus on collaboration between the county chamber and local chambers in St. Lawrence County and the online efforts to promote the region’s trail network and fishing opportunities,” Assemblywoman Jenne said.

Assemblywoman Jenne noted she recently had an opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues – from the assemblywoman's maritime initiative to ways to combat some of the barriers facing small businesses – during a visit with St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Brooke Rouse and Assistant Director Michael Besaw.

“It was a great conversation. I learned more about the chamber’s current initiatives, had a chance to check out its FishCap site on line and we brainstormed steps we can take to assist local businesses and grow tourism in the region,” Assemblywoman Jenne said.

St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Brooke Rouse said her agency appreciates the allocation from Assemblywoman Jenne to promote the fishing opportunities in St. Lawrence County.

“As we roll out destination marketing plans for the county, with specific digital strategies, it is essential that we are putting out the best online product and communication possible,”" Ms. Rouse said.

“The allocation allowed us to redesign the Fishcap.net site, which was created several years ago. The site has been a tremendous resource in promoting our fisheries,  however, the site needed to be upgraded. It is now mobile-friendly, fits the new destination brand, features an easy to use fish finder and places tournaments at the forefront," she added.

“The site allows for tournament organizers to create and manage a microsite on Fishcap.net, providing much greater exposure for their events, at no cost to them. As the county continues to attract world-class events to our world-class waters, our marketing should embrace and represent that,” Ms. Rouse said.

“Our hope is that new businesses will be interested in setting up in the county to take advantage of the demand created by the number of tournaments and visitors happening year round,” she noted.

Nearly 2,500 people have visited the site since its launch in August. The site will continue to be marketed as the landing page for print and digital marketing for fishing in the county.
